Title: Quantum Computing for Quantum Materials Researchers


Abstract: In the last several years, there has been an increased use of the word "quantum" in both the general public and scientific circles, resulting in a number of new funding opportunities and collaborations aiming to advance "quantum" research. Often, these opportunities target specifically quantum computing or quantum information research and may seem far removed from materials research. This presentation will provide a background on quantum computing from the perspective of a materials researcher, including examples of how present-day quantum computers may be used to directly connect to materials research.
